Buying Local
At Thirsties, we encourage you to purchase locally whenever possible. If Thirsties are available by a retailer in your country, region, or city, we ask that you please consider supporting these local business owners first.

Here are a few good reasons to buy from your neighbors:

• Your local business produces income, jobs, and tax receipts for your local community. Buying across borders sends the profits and duties elsewhere.
• In turn, your support of your local business helps them to utilize other local services, such as ad agencies, banks, office supply companies, and computer service providers.
• Your local business is more accountable to your local community and is more likely to donate time and money to nonprofits that directly benefit you and your neighbors.
• Supporting your local business is good for the environment because it cuts down on fuel consumption and packaging materials. Even though the origin of Thirsties products are always the same, it takes fewer resources to ship one large box across borders to your local retailer than for the goods to be sent in small doses to your doorstep from a far away source.
• Shipping across borders can be risky. Depending on the carrier, a tracking number is not always available for your goods when shipping internationally. If goods go missing, there is little that can be done to try and trace your missing parcel.
• After paying shipping costs and duties, the end price in purchasing your cloth diapers may not be much less and may even be more money, in comparison to buying local. Research the whole cost and you may be surprised at how much you are actually paying by not buying locally.
• If you purchase abroad and then need to return your product(s) for any reason, shipping them back across borders would pretty much cancel out any potential refund or credit on your return.
• If you find you need support in using your cloth diapers, it will be much easier to pick-up the phone and call your local business (from whom you made your original purchase) rather than to try and get support across borders and deal with long distance phone charges, time zone changes, and/or language barriers.
