For optimum cleanliness, limit the size of your load to no more than 18 diapers and wash every other day. Use COLD water for the pre-wash cycle with ½ ounce of Thirsties Pre-Wash solution to help pre-clean your diapers. If you do not have a pre-wash cycle on your washer, a short or quick-wash cycle will work just as well. Follow with 1/2 ounce of Thirsties Super Wash in heavy cycle on HOT with an extra rinse.

""I have tried many different detergents over the past few years of cloth diapering. I've been searching for the 'perfect detergent' (if there can be such a thing) and I believe I have found the answer!
We have experienced the dreadful ammonia stink that some cloth diaper users run into. I had found a temporary fix that worked for my pocket diapers but was not safe to use for my newly acquired all-in-ones. The diapers were just starting to stink (again) when I received my first order of Thirsties Pre-wash. I decided to put it to the test. I used the Pre-wash as suggested (just 1/2 an ounce!) in my first initial cold rinse. I then followed with my hot (maybe warm, I sometimes do hot, sometimes warm) wash with the Thristies Super Wash. Once those clean diapers were then used and dirty, voila, no more stink! I knew the Thirsties washes were working...but which one? Maybe it was the Super Wash and I could do away with the Pre-wash. Then I put the Pre-wash to its own test...
My two older boys are potty trained but still have accidents at night. Most mornings I am washing sheets, pajamas and underwear that stink of pee. There are occasions when the pajamas came out of the washing machine still smelling. In the past, I would have just washed them a few more times (literally!) to get the stink out of them. This most recent time however was different. I decided to throw the pajamas back in the wash and do a cold rinse with Thirsties Pre-wash in there. After that cycle, I ran the pajamas through a normal wash cycle with my regular detergent for clothing (homemade). The pajamas came out smelling CLEAN!
