Wow... amazing... "in 1957, children began potty-training at around 11 months." Where I live, cloth diapers are considered pretty crazy, so I've been careful about who to tell that we're planning on using them when baby comes. I did tell one of our friend's dad, who is in his 70s, and he was very supportive and told us that our baby would probably be potty trained faster because of it! :-)

I will add that my son would get an unfavorable verbal response from me the few times he purposefully wet himself because he was mad/upset with me. We taught him instead to say 'im mad' but its not ok to pee/poop in pants just out of anger.

My son began staying dry through most jights before 1yr, although with 15min of waking in the morning he would stand still and flood his diaper. Before he was 18mo old he would hide, or stand still to pee or poop, then would want to be changed. He was using the potty well 2weeks before his second bday, however his bday is a few days before christmas so he regressed some (lots of exciting ppl and toys are distracting lol) for about 2 months. At 26mo he began using potty well again. I really think feeling wet helped because I tried disposable pullups and noticed he would pee in tyhem and ot care (couldnt feel the wetness), however wiyh cloth he would atleast attempt to make it to the potty.

I am about to be a new Mom in Sep (first time) and I have made the decision to cloth diaper. I have read many places that it helps kids potty train faster and one of my friends ho did CD has also confirmed this a her experience. I hope it would be my experience as well.

We used both cloth and disposables during potty training towards the end. I was only using cloth at night and only had three diapers to wash... Decided to use pull-ups... but hated spending the cash for them.

Elizabeth I am going to respectfully say that it does not matter that children are potty trained at a later age. Do you really think a kid will care if they are potty trained at 3 or even 4 as opposed to 2? No they will not and the parents should not either. The parents should respect the childs pace and comfort level regarding toilet training. It is their process they should not feel pressured one way or the other. As long as they eventually gain continence it simply does not matter when they train.
