The Ghost behind the Post

Do you ever feel that the person on the other end of the email, post, or telephone call is like a ghost… that it is hard to connect with them and that they will vanish after the connection is lost? I certainly have had that experience. I wanted our readers to know that here at Thirsties, we try to let our customers/colleagues know that we are here to help, and we will be here if they need or want to contact us.

We are a small but growing company. We are not a huge corporation with hundreds of employees. We are a small team with multiple functions and duties to perform every day. You might call, email, or send a chat, and may get the same person who writes the blog article or Facebook posts. That is one plus of smaller companies! We are everyday … Read More

Potty Training in Cloth Vs. Disposables: An Intro

Cooper just turned one and it’s gotten me thinking about (drum roll, please): Potty Training.  Many parents of twelve-month olds are not thinking about potty training any more than they’re thinking about sending their baby off to college:  He’s not ready!  She’s too young.  We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Though no studies have been done that I’m aware of, many moms say that babies in cloth train faster and that disposable pull-ups do nothing but prolong the process.  Cloth diapers, unlike their disposable-Sodium-Polacrylate-filled counterparts, feel wet to the touch when they are wet or soiled.  This means two things: babies and toddlers learn to dislike the wet feeling and have more of a motivation to stay dry AND they learn the cause and effect of their bodily functions: I pee, I feel wet. How To Replace Aplix

For those of you who have learned to sew, or want to try, you can add new life to your diapering products after the item is out of warranty. It does take a little time, but it is well worth it if the item is still in good shape otherwise.

You will need two male closure tabs, two female closure tabs, and two laundry tabs per item. If you are replacing the Aplix strip in front, you will need some 1 ½ inch loop tape as well. Use a jeans needle to be able to penetrate the Aplix and avoid skipped stitches. Use a strong cotton or cotton/polyester blend thread.

For closure tabs:

  1. Cut off rounded end of old Aplix tab, taking care not to cut the fabric.
  2. Rip out the stitching from both the top and bottom Aplix tab.
  3. Center new male tab on inside of cover or diaper,
  4. Read More
